i know what you mean, i also have an extremely annoying ati card. i used to have that problem a lot with 11.04 and 10.10 as i remember. sorry can't give much advice, but im in a different pickle...

i had installed the newest ATI driver, which apparently doesn't work well with this older...

i should have mentioned, i tried installing 12.04 and got a black screen, apparently also related to my stupid radeon card.

unfortunately i didn't buy this laptop (years ago) with linux...

hi, so ive tried to figure this out on my own. i had a decent enough gaming setup up until a month ago. it was ubuntu 11.10 on my toshiba satellite laptop which has a radeon 4200 HD card. it was good...
