    [ubuntu] Re: best backup solution

A little late to answer this, but I'll toss in my two cents:

    - If you're on 16.04 or later (Desktop), they've got a built-in "Backups" program that will assist you in creating and helping to use...
  2. Re: Heroes of the Storm, can launch but having some (I assume) visual issues.

Have you installed restricted extras? Have you updates to newest video drivers?

Are you using PlayOnLinux or WINE directly? What version of WINE are you running? Might be worthwhile to try...
  3. Re: Looking for a 13.04 iso with an updated Linux Kernel (preferably 3.11.4 or higher

13.10 being brand new release and seems to be working out some bugs here and there still. I'd rather go back to 13.04, roots a little firmer in planting.

Alas, alack, unless someone helps and...
  4. Looking for a 13.04 iso with an updated Linux Kernel (preferably 3.11.4 or higher)?

So I've searched a bit here, and on that fancy place called "teh googlz" and I can't really seem to either find what I'm looking for, or better yet, a good way to search for what I'm looking for.

Re: How Gaming on Linux Could Be Big

So the SteamOS and SteamBox (really, just Valve) is what the Linux gamers have been asking for: a heavy-hitter willing to throw in with our lot. It will be very interesting to see how Linux gaming...
  6. Re: Ubuntu 12.04 Can I run Perfect World Sirens of War?

I've seen that other folks have gotten Neverwinter Online to run; but I'm not sure about Arc.

Check that post as it walks you through getting...

    [SOLVED] Re: Bastion

Supergiant Games did an amazing job on Bastion; and their next game, called Transistor, is due out in 2014.

Seems to have a lot of the same feel as Bastion, but...
  9. Re: Looking for help Diablo 3, PlayonLinux etc.

Alright... so I have to admit there's some serious guessing going on right now (from me) because I don't own Diablo 3; but bear with me:

    - Open PoL
    - Install Game (pick Diablo 3)
    - Allow it to...

Re: Building computer to play games

Cooler: THIS it's only $35 USD, and does more than enough to keep your CPU nice and cool. Don't spent more than $50 on a CPU cooler when you certainly don't need to. If you plan on overclocking the...
  11. Re: Looking for help Diablo 3, PlayonLinux etc.

How does "get pol and install game" not work for your situation?

Here's the wall-of-text for the Wine APPDB: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=25953

    Here's PoL...

Re: Advantage of gaming on Linux?

Yea, this is the YouTube link referenced here in this thread. But one game doesn't make the entirely of Linux "better" to run games on. There's a lot more going on than just who has the highest...

Re: Advantage of gaming on Linux?

This is still rather misleading; keep in mind that AAA games (brand new, out of the box and on the shelf) aren't really natively supported in Linux yet. There's more and more gaining Linux support...

[ubuntu] Re: black screen with cursor on boot

If the Pendrive has grub installed on it, rather than grub being installed on the HDD, that's why it won't boot to Ubuntu unless the USB is plugged in.
  15. [SOLVED] Re: Cannot boot from usb, please help!

You could always try a different USB Loader tool. Personally, I used Pen Drive's USB installer (Windows version HERE)

    I've never used unetbootin before.

Also... you could try to use 11.10 to...

[ubuntu] Re: black screen with cursor on boot

Check the USB stick... see if GRUB installed to that instead of your MBR.

That's really the only thing that I can think of... but then again, I'm still not that hugely savvy with installs yet.

[ubuntu] Re: black screen with cursor on boot

    Oh, I understand.

From this point, without a working HDD, there's not much you can do other than try and run a LiveCD off of the USB.

Try and use a USB of 11.10 and see if that'll load. You...

    [ubuntu] Re: prep for 12.10

I'm of the camp that usually waits a few weeks/months before jumping into the x.10 upgrade. Let the devs and community find and eliminate (with extreme prejudice) all the bugs and such. Also... if...

[ubuntu] Re: black screen with cursor on boot

It's possible (though without a LOT more detail, this is just a guess) that you've installed Ubuntu to the actual pendrive. If that's not the case, then I'm scratching my head for you as well.

[ubuntu] Re: black screen with cursor on boot

If you're using a "netbook" or similar, you might want to dig around and see if others have the same hardware/model that you do and have gotten Ubuntu (and whatever version) to work.

    Have you...

Re: Crash while running WOW on linux

I'm no expert... but after a quick read through... are you playing the 64-bit WoW client on a 32-bit version of WINE/Linux?

    Platform: i386...
  23. Re: Wiindows for Gaming, Ubuntu for Everything Else. Help?

Part of the tricky portion of gaming on Linux is your PC build. Some stuff works great together (RAM+GPU combo) sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the build you use (WINE build that is) isn't...

    Re: x86 or 64-bit? for PoL/WINE gaming

"Back in the day...." the issue with >4GB of RAM was really with OS utilization. Wind-blows (to this day) doesn't see higher than 3.75GB in a x86 OS (anything higher than 4GB to be recognized and...
