This is still rather misleading; keep in mind that AAA games (brand new, out of the box and on the shelf) aren't really natively supported in Linux yet. There's more and more gaining Linux support...

If the Pendrive has grub installed on it, rather than grub being installed on the HDD, that's why it won't boot to Ubuntu unless the USB is plugged in.

You could always try a different USB Loader tool. Personally, I used Pen Drive's USB installer (Windows version HERE)
