    you can try xubuntu or lubuntu rather than ubuntu which is designed for newer pcs with better specs. lubuntu would be the lightest of all in the ubuntu family.

    actually i'm very much satisfied with my current setup , the only problem is /tmp mounted on a separate 7gb hdd partition, i just want to either grow the partition or mount /tmp under the parttion...

    you will have to enable 'personal file sharing'. type 'share in dash and go to personal file sharing, enable bluetooth share options as required.

    it is type of partition table , i'm not an expert on the subject but i know by my experience that what is going to work.

    now you should better download latest iso 12.04 lts for stability and 12.10...

    the problem is with the partitioning of your second hdd, it is a gpt partition. so you may have to repartition the drive and reinstall ubuntu.

    if you are 'logged in' as user other than the administrator , these things can happen.

    it is because hardware manufacturers are only focused to windows, so they only release drivers for windows, while in ubuntu, drivers are mostly open source and developed by community. still there...
