    Re: parental controls

I worked on a project a while ago called pykeylogger. It's a python based keylogger, specifically windows based. I did the conversion on it to Linux, by using the python-xlib bindings, and capturing...

Oh, and that card doesn't look supported on linuxtv.org.

Here's another thread that looks at it.

[ubuntu] NVidia Driver resolution very tiny

For some reason, since upgrading to Hardy, my nvidia driver resolution is insanely small. Small enough that it doesn't correctly display the login page, and when I login from memory (username [enter]...

Re: The bet is on! Ubuntu vs. Microsoft

OK, let's take a step back.

Go through joe's instructions. Instead of stringing the commands together with && (That executes the commands one right after another) split them up.

    sudo -s...

    Re: C++, C# or Python

Yeah, I'd definitely go with Python. Of course, realize that you are asking this in an ubuntu forum. Ubuntu  python.

Besides, I like python simply because it is very specifically portable...
  9. Re: HOWTO: Nvidia 9742 beta drivers in Edgy/Feisty

Wow! Snappy, responsive, beautiful. The HOWTO worked great! Thanks!

Also, now I can run Full Screen OpenGL apps again. Finally!
  10. Re: HOWTO get Hibernate working with Proprietory Nvidia driver (using Suspend2)

    @NickTheCoder

It looks like that is only for the default suspend stuff that comes with breezy. This is for suspend2, something substantially different I gather.

Re: HOWTO: Get an HP Laserjet 1000 to print

Neat, thanks for the link on network printing.

As for the other link, I've seen it before, and I don't remember why, but it never worked for me.

Re: HOWTO: Get an HP Laserjet 1000 to print

    Try this,

Get a printer that doesn't require you to flash the firmware on the printer itself every time you print.

It's as simple as that. I have since thrown this printer away, simply becuase...

  14. Poll: Re: Would you use a Linux specific ISP (Dial Up)

Well, this would have roughly 9000 access numbers, and there would be no restrictions on what OS you run. The difference would be that I would be offering support for linux, and specifically tailor...
  15. Poll: Re: Would you use a Linux specific ISP (Dial Up)

So, what extras are people looking for in a linux ISP?
  16. Poll: Re: Would you use a Linux specific ISP (Dial Up)

Of course, it also helps that serial modems are plug and play in linux kernels 2.2 and up. :)
  17. Poll: Would you use a Linux specific ISP (Dial Up)

My question is simple. I am looking into starting an ISP using an existing base, it would have roughly 9000 numbers throughout the US and Canada. Assume that you can get a local access number when...

Install the proprietary nvidia drivers, they are in universe I think.

They do a much better job with that card. I have it in my MythBox.

  21. Re: Recent version of thunar in repository?

This would be when you compile it from source. Thunar is a relatively new File Manager, and I'm not surprised that they only have v1.2 in the repos. Just a few months ago it was at version 0.9 I...
  22. Re: Why does my screen turn a dark green after games?

I'm going to go with the "install new drivers" policy. that hunter green can also be pure blue. either way, it means something is not doing it's job with your video card. Do you have Nvidia, or ATI?

Re: HOWTO: Server Side VNC Client

Re: HOWTO: Server Side VNC Client

Well, if they don't allow servers, an SSH server is incredibly common, so it probably will flag that as well. You may want to look into FreeNX. Check out cosmopod.com for a free implementation, or...
