Here's how to fix it :)
Download dconf editor if you haven't already. Then click in this order org -> gnome -> desktop -> sound. Once in sound, click on the theme name there (it says freedesktop...
I'm pretty sure that's what the problem is. I think the entire sound scheme has been changed when you install gnome-shell, so I'm trying to figure out a way to get it all back. If you figure out a...
Thanks so much! It was exactly that extension that was causing problems for me. I'm going to go file a bug with the zeitgeist dev. :)
Exactly. I've been turning the internet upside down trying to find a solution but so far nothing. It's really annoying because it was one of my favourite features. Hope someone finds a fix soon.
*bump*
It's a minor problem, but when I search for something in gnome shell and press enter, it searches wikipedia rather than opening the application I wanted. Even if I highlight the app I want using the...
I'm pretty sure I tried this before and I don't think it worked, but I'll try it again and let you know how it goes :)
*Bump*
any help would be greatly appreciated :)
I've had this problem for a while, and I've been searching around the forums to try and find a solution, but I haven't found one yet. So I have Skype install, and for some reason, it does not...

Okay, I found a solution!
First, I opened this file for editing in terminal.
gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
then, I entered this line into the end of the document.
Thank you so much, your suggestion to change to auto worked!
My output for the cat /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf is:
kiki@kiki-U52F:~$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
# autoloader...
My speakers are working, but my headphones aren't. Music keeps playing from the speakers when the headphones are plugged in. I've looked around, and found out some stuff about ALSA, but I haven't...
I have a similar problem, but it is reversed for me. My speakers are working, but my headphones will not. The music just keeps playing from the speakers when the headphones are plugged in. I have an...
I meant the app :). In the app they have a bunch of online music stores you can buy from, and usually when I'm at the university and there is a required sign in, the login page always shows up for me...
did you try my suggestion? I know it sounds goofy, but it might work
I have no idea if the code I enter changed anything, but right now, the output is:
hp-wifi: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
I'm assuming since I unblocked the wifi,...
I fixed it :D
Did that, my wireless light came on right away, but I had to restart before I could use the wireless card. Just posting this so others who find this thread get a solution :).
Hey, have a similar laptop to you, dv2500, and a similar problem. But I got it fixed! Went lurking and found this suggestion.
Did that, my wireless light came on right away, but I had to...
OMG thanks SO much, worked perfectly :D
Omg, thank you so much! Worked perfectly!
Some of you may have seen my post about my wireless issues. I gave up trying to figure out the problem and just reinstalled 10.10. Anyways, did the reinstall, installed all proprietary drivers and...
