that didn't help. is there any way to add the id's to the drivers? like in windows its possible to add to the inf file.
thanks for the help. but why would that make a difference? it seems like the drivers are working. just they aren't stable on my configuration. i don;t mind going to hardy where 169.xx drivers are...
i have a 8800gs in my computer and whenever i install any driver the system freezes. In windows only the 169.xx drivers work, the rest cause a system freeze after only a couple of minutes of use.

despite rebooting both the windows machine and ubuntu machine twice yesterday it didnt work, today i boot up and i can see the vista machine from my laptop. woohoo... this driver works amazingly...

thanks for the reply but i was talking about the bottom of the pic where the openoffice things on the taskbar are compressed in that little area instead of stretching until the battery
it seems the task manager widget in kde 4.1 doesn't use up all available space for example look at my pic, the open windows don't span the whole bar

4.1 rc is the first time in almost 4 years where i picked kde over gnome
k well this is gonna be useless to most people but it started remembering some how. i did nothing
just realized its not isolated to the panel. the widgets i put on the desktop also disappear
just installed kde 4.0.98 i beleive, anyways kde4-rc1 and its super stable
but the panel keeps changing every boot. is there a way to save changes i make to the panel.

thanks rogier. but in the end i just gave up. i looked at the logs and they match up almost perfectly in the 2 os's and arch is faster, but i just don;t have the time to keep tweaking it
