Sure why not, you can also post it at the mailing list at ubuntu-phone@lists.launchpad.net

Re: Phablet-dev-bootstrap issues Ubuntu phone OS

Keep on it man. Delete everything if you have too and start from square one.
  3. Re: Phone tablet hybrid: what's the best choice?

What I would like to see is something like the Mini PC Android sticks that can slide into a different form factor depending on what you want to use it for, or plug into the TV and what not. Maybe...

    Re: Netflix On Ubuntu

Think we could get this working in a modified version of XBMCFlix?

    Re: Ubuntu phone OS

Shouldn't be hard either, since you don't have to emulate Android to run 90 percent of the apps as I understand it, just Dalvik.

    Re: Ubuntu phone OS

Probably. If Android runs on top of a JVM already, then it shouldn't be that big a deal then to port the internals over to allow Android apps to run, both being open source.

Re: Netflix in Ubuntu, no native Method

Makes sense, I can run it on Peppermint AOK, so it should be able to run just fine and dandy on other Debian based systems, if not more universally.

It's XDA, and they have a new toy. That's about it.

    Re: Ubuntu phone OS

^^ I'm wondering, now that Canonical is going to have to compile every payware thing in the Ubuntu Software Center over again for ARM, would we have to worry about Fragmentation across processors?

    Re: Ubuntu phone OS

    Hang on...

I know that a lot of Ubuntu's Bread and Butter is FLOSS friendly software, which could make for something that could work on x86 or ARM, but what about the HIB games and the like we...

    Re: Ubuntu phone OS

I like the OS functionally, but hardware is EVERYTHING in the mobilescape, and I really don't see anyone wanting to toss their hat into this one if the Game of Patents continues into the new year....
  12. [all variants] Re: Buying netbook with Linux for default... impossible misssion?

Second hand computer store might like them.

As far as netbooks go, I'm using a C7 Chromebook with Chrubuntu on it. $200, and a dual boot setup that kicks the rear of anything else out there.

    Re: Netflix On Ubuntu

Fresh Quantic install on a Dell Latitude D610, finally got Silverlight to work, audio works, video doesn't. Probably my GFX card is being a stinker, but World of Goo seems to work okay via Steam......

    Re: Netflix On Ubuntu

Try downloading wine-compholio first or manually downloading the wine and netflix-debs, seems to mesh with adding the ppa.

    Re: Netflix On Ubuntu

Me neither. I'm thinking it's an issue with the cobbled together WINE, since vanilla at least recognizes Silverlight, at least when I last tried it.

    Re: Netflix On Ubuntu

32bit system, same thing that happened yesterday. Asks for a Silverlight install, and doesn't recognise the one already there. I did manually patch wine and try that route, so maybe it has it's lines...

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:compholio

At least, once it's fully baked. Right now it's throwing up a 404, which I am guessing means, "I'm not quite ready yet."

Mostly it's that Netflix is the single holdout in not playing well with non-flash webservices, it's the Coke in the streaming world to everything elses RC Cola, and it means something to play all the...

    Re: Netflix On Ubuntu

Um, then why haven't we seen anyone crack the app open and play it on a Linux install yet? I'd imagine there is some processor hoodoo involved, since ARM doesn't translate well to x86, and the DRM...
  20. Re: Valve Announcement - Steam client coming to Ubuntu

Plus, the Formally known as Metro Interface cannot be separated from the Windows Software, afaik. It's nice, but it's not something I'd use on a Desktop.

    [ubuntu] Re: Wireless Authentication Problem

Same problem, looks like someone borked a driver that was pushed out recently. If you have a USB Wireless stick or can move it to a hardwire port, now would be a good time to bust it out, otherwise...

Finally got around to playing with this again, is there a particular model I should go with when it comes to expresscard or pci?
  23. Re: someone *finally* makes the game I want, but of course no linux compatibility

Could you talk with these guys, say your a fan, and ask about Linux stuff, maybe even volunteer if you have some work under your belt?
  24. Re: someone *finally* makes the game I want, but of course no linux compatibility

There's always WINE and Native Client in the works.
  25. Re: Valve Announcement - Steam client coming to Ubuntu

Remember, those were the HIB, but on Valve time, that could mean anything.
