  1. [ubuntu] Re: need to create raid 0 without altering install

    Yes -

I did this on a qnap nas a while back - and wrote a note here :

    http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?f=147&t=23029#p97724

See also the referenced web page for specifics.

    [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 KVM

I think I have this problem as well. The console connection doesn't seem to work directly so I used VNC instead.

I mostly just SSH to the VM now however.

[ubuntu] Re: Lucid KVM major stability issues.

This is a late reply, hopefully useful. Maybe to the original posters. I also have a new Dell R410 server at work.

My original plan was to install Debian Lenny + Xen, and host some Xen domU's. As...

[ubuntu] Re: How to: Install ext3 in Karmic Koala

I have not used the 9.10 server installer. However, you should be able to choose the filesystem used (e.g. ext3) for the install if you manually partition your disks i.e. choose "manual" when you...

    [all variants] Re: syslog-ng

If you install syslog-ng it will "just work". It has a configuration that mimics normal syslog, so you will not see any difference.

However, you now have the opportunity to configure syslog-ng and...

[ubuntu] Re: Apache2 Won't start at boot.

Hard to say. The scripts in /etc/init.d/ are run if configured (linked) for the various "boot" states you can be in (run-levels). These are links in /etc/rc*.d/

    Is apache there?

    That's odd.

[ubuntu] Re: Verifying GRUB installation on RAID1

    Maybe try :

    grub> find /boot/grub/stage1

Because Grub's installed in /boot which is in / (and not a separate partition).

I generally do all of this stuff before the system's in production...
  12. [SOLVED] Re: Any outlook on EXT4 becoming stable (or am I the only one with problems) ?

Fedora can be a bit bumpy - but so can Ubuntu :-)

For me - fsck times are a draw. I'm not using it yet because I'm LTS and Debian Stable. But ext4 is faster for I/O and much faster when doing...

Something seems wrong there ... you have a RAID 1 mirror with :

    c) The other 2 spare

Firstly - I hope you have backups...

VSFTPD is not well documented really. It is deceptively simple, but you have to spend some time testing/researching I think.

What about an option like :

Try the current (latest) version :

    http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

Burn to a CDROM - boot - and try without installing. When you want to install, double click the "install" icon.

  18. [SOLVED] Re: Any outlook on EXT4 becoming stable (or am I the only one with problems) ?

Not sure. I think and expect the problems you have are elsewhere - and not an ext4 issue. The reason I say this is that ext4 is pretty active just now and a lot of people are watching it (and...
