I did a fresh install on an HP Pavilion ZV6000 laptop. It worked fairly well. I cannot use suspend or hibernate, I have sound issues with my USB interface, and cannot use advanced desktop effects....

at step 3 I get the following error:

bingo - fixed it.
go to terminal, run alsamixer
Hit F6 to select the device, then notice that one of the volumes is really low. Fix that.
I am having this issue as well. I have a zv6000 (and a mobilepre, which is having a set of problems all it's own)
