  1. [all variants] Re: [Boot-Repair] Graphical tool to repair the PC boot in one click

Thanks sudodus - that is how I did the sda "ordinary" 13.10. My objective here was a live system. Incidentally, I needed to pre-format the to-become sda thumb using WinXP to get a bootable device.
  2. [all variants] Re: [Boot-Repair] Graphical tool to repair the PC boot in one click

An update - a way around - The only way I found that worked was to use Windows XP to format the thumb that becomes sdb. Then I was able to use 13.10's Startup Disk Creator and an iso file...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: Error no such device after using boot-repair

This sounds very much like post #1581 in thread "[Boot-Repair] Graphical tool to repair the PC boot in one click" where the Boot-Repair operation puts a wrong uuid into the grub under repair.
  4. [all variants] Re: [Boot-Repair] Graphical tool to repair the PC boot in one click

Re: [URL="http://paste.ubuntu.com/6471199/"] I have two thumb drives. sda has an "ordinary" ubuntu 13.10 system and boots just fine. Boot-Repair is on it and seems to operate. sdb has a 13.10 iso...
  5. [SOLVED] Re: search for files doesn't find files without reboot.

Search for Files should find all target files. Period! Anything less is simply a bad system. Narrowing the search should can (and should) be easy to do but not the default. This topic is not solved!
  6. [SOLVED] Re: Ubuntu 11.10 linux 3.0.0-13 has stopped booting

The answer goes further back. Installers ubiquity and aptitude (and perhaps more) invoke a filtering process dpkg-divert. This looks at files coming in and can divert them to another location, rename...
  7. [ubuntu] Re: Not able to add all ISO files to the start up disk creator

No joy here. Nothing interesting in changelog. Tried to execute usb-creator-gtk from terminal and also as root - same result. Also tried 11.04 to no joy.
  8. [ubuntu] Re: Not able to add all ISO files to the start up disk creator

I've got a fair bit of experience - and have the same problem with both 11.10 (an upgrade) and Mint 12 (a clean install.) My .iso is newly created by remastersys and is normal in every way as far as...

[ubuntu] Re: Can you boot from a flash drive?

Assuming your system can boot from a usb drive . . .

For more than 2 years I have been using remastersys to make a .iso file from the running Ubuntu system. Start at http://www.remastersys.com/...

[ubuntu] Re: Cant upgrade 2.6.35-25 kernel Please Help!

This is more "shared experience" than a fix - but maybe it'll help.

I use two 10.10 systems. Both created on the same day - one full desktop system and another configured for a special purpose....

    [ubuntu] lsusb -verbose is intermittent

I have several USB flash drives of various makes. All are working well (mostly as bootable live 9.10 systems) so the USB drives are not the issue. I can mount and unmount the devices, and read and...

[ubuntu] Re: Install 8.04 Hardy on USB pen drive - Good experience

Used Xubuntu live CD to install to an 8GB OCZ Rally2 flash drive. $25 from Tiger.com. Used about 3GB leaving 5GB free. The system now boots in less than 30 seconds. I'm really pleased with...
