It's actually a variant of Ubuntu called Linux Mint. It's based on 9.04.
What about the boot loader.
No, it's a dual boot set up, not with Wubi.
I'm thinking about moving to Windows 7 on my Windows partition, but I'm not sure how to do this without messing up the boot loader or screwing up my Ubuntu install. Is there a tutorial on doing this?
Clonezilla seems to have worked without a hitch. Hopefully I'll be in good shape if things go squirrely again. Thanks!
When I go to download Clonezilla, I only see ones for i386 architecture. Anyone know if the experimental version (only one that supports ext4) is available in amd64?
I see a program called Keep in Synaptics Package Manager, but it says it's a "backup system for KDE." Is that the one and will it work fine with GNOME?
I just had to reinstall my 9.04 system because it decided it just wouldn't boot any longer. Now that I've got all my settings and wireless config done again, I don't want to have to do this again so...
bump.
Since the 9.04 live CD doesn't have the repair broken system option, how would I run a command that does the same thing to that install after the live CD has booted up?
BTW, the 9.04 live cd doesn't have the "repair broken system" option.
Where is that option?
One thing I saw when I tried it again was during the booting up there was one line in all that text that said "acer-wmi - no or unsupported WMI interface - unable to load."
What's that about?
Hmm. Doesn't seem to work. Just didn't give me the splash screen then boots to a blank screen.
So if I do a fresh install, I should be able to go in and just drop those files back in there and my wireless and wired network stuff will work again? Because it was a pain getting them to work. ...
Ok, I'm in using the live CD and was able to mount the Ubuntu partition. What do I do from here to backup all my important data? I'd especially like to back up my network and wireless...
Nope. When my dad called, I was on a message board in the middle of composing a message. When I realized I was going to have to get into Windows to help him, I copied and pasted my post into an...
Thanks so much for the reply.
Now, I tried booting into recovery mode but the thing goes so fast I can't hardly read anything. What exactly do I need to do in recovery mode to check the...
I was thinking of installing using Wubi and then see if I can at least recover the files in my old native Ubuntu partition. Anyone know if that will work? If I boot into the Wubi install will I be...

I really need some help.
I've been using 9.04 on a fresh install for a little over a week now and really enjoying it. Tonight though, I had to restart and boot into Windows to help my dad with something over the phone. ...
Oh, thank the sweet Baby Jesus I found this thread. It worked and now I can type normally.
Thanks for the solution!

How on earth can this many people be having issues with wireless and ethernet connectivity after the upgrade and this wasn't caught before releasing 9.04?

It doesn't respond at all to an ethernet cable being plugged in since the upgrade. Incidentally, it also won't connect to my Linksys wireless router. It sees the SSID but never connects. It just...
