[SOLVED] Re: Patch day killed EverQuest 2

I can confirm that work-around works. I tried it using Windows 7 and the game runs fine, using Windows XP keeps the game from launching.
  3. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu Server unreachable by hostname, desktop resolves fine

IP is mac address assigned inside the router.

That seems to be exactly what I needed. It's working now. I still can't comprehend why the server needed that but my desktop works without that...
  4. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu Server unreachable by hostname, desktop resolves fine

    hideaki@Saber:~$ hostname
    Saber

smb://saber/ is what I'd like to be able to do, or //saber in the case of windows computers.
It's really not that big of an issue, it's just annoying and...
  5. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu Server unreachable by hostname, desktop resolves fine

Woah, I didn't expect this to get so heated >_<

So, there is no firewall running on the server, it's behind a router and only very specific ports are forwarded to the internet.

    My router...
  6. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu Server unreachable by hostname, desktop resolves fine

I know that's always an option, but I have a large number of computers in my home network, I'd really rather not have to add an entry to every single one of their host files.
  7. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu Server unreachable by hostname, desktop resolves fine

All the systems I described are physical, none of them are virtual machines.

I checked my router's DHCP list and it does just list the hostname, not appending the .local.

    Hello,

I have a home server running Ubuntu Server 10.10, it is running Samba for file sharing with a mix of Windows and Linux boxes in my house. My main problem is that the server is only...

[all variants] Re: ASUS Eee PC 1201N Touchpad

It's a shame. This and the function keys being iffy are the only 2 things keeping the 1201N from being perfect under Ubuntu.

I haven't been able to do much more. I found the name of the touchpad is "SynPS/2 Synaptics", and some other note/netbooks use it, but they all have the same problem and the same solution that...

Can anyone help me? Following some of the old tutorials has now rendered SOME results, but still no gesture support, I just got it to stop freaking out when I touch on more than 2 places.

    So far...

[ubuntu] Re: Transmission blocklist and ipblock question

You only need one block-list. But Transmission only applies it's block list to bitttorrent traffic, so if you want it to apply to more than just bittorrent traffic then use ipblock, turn off the...

  18. [all variants] Booting stalls for 15 seconds before showing usplash

    Hello,

My girlfriend has a Toshiba Satellite L305-S5907 which works almost flawlessly in Ubuntu, with one exception. During boot time, the computer will stall for around 15 seconds in a black...
