Re: What would you do with a billion dollars?

Pay off my house and car loans, pay off the credit cards, buy a pool, quit my job. Not necessarily in that order. Save the rest for when the kid goes to college or whatever.

    Might buy a new TV...

    Re: Favourite beer

Toss up between Ten Fiddy and Old Rasputin. Victory makes Storm King which is also excellent.

I've always wanted to try Dark Lord, but it is impossible to get around here.

    Re: The Matrix Principle

I thought obscuring the truth was a Bad Thing? If Linux has earned such a bad reputation that it shouldn't even be mentioned I'd say the war is pretty much over.

    Re: How much game time

Spent about a year playing WoW, but I've probably put more time than that in on games like Ultima 7 and 6. Not all at once of course, but over the years...

Re: Are Linux OSes still for 'nerds'?

See my posts after that one.

tl:dr: The stuff I use for work doesn't play well with Linux and I don't enjoy fixing things that updates break.

Re: Are Linux OSes still for 'nerds'?

I'm not talking about cutting edge stuff really, just that some of the tools I need for my job either don't work well or don't work at all in Linux. I've tried, and in the process got a couple...

Poll: Re: Which Games console do you like?

I got more entertainment out of my C64 than I have with dedicated gaming consoles (although you might argue that the C64 came pretty close...).

I don't think I could point to a gaming console that...

Re: Are Linux OSes still for 'nerds'?

It is my opinion that (desktop) Linux as a whole is still basically a hobbyist OS. It is a ton of fun to play with, but I can't rely on it to get my work done.

    Re: Just curious.. network manager

My own experience in Arch with those two programs has been that wicd is far and away the better of the two. I don't think I've ever even managed to get network manager to work.

    They SHOULD be...

Re: Ubuntu won't die any time soon

    lol

Been running 32-bit Pro for a while now. No slow down and no stability problems. I would have to assume at this point that you just don't know how to maintain a Windows install.

  22. Re: Apple clones, how the 1st amendment could solve the legal problem

I think the point was that you can't really compare an OS to a firearm and be left with a meaningful analogy.

Re: Ubuntu won't die any time soon

Yeah, I mean with all the contributions it makes back to the kernel and programs, it's practically inseperable from Linux as a whole.
