I thought obscuring the truth was a Bad Thing? If Linux has earned such a bad reputation that it shouldn't even be mentioned I'd say the war is pretty much over.

tl:dr: The stuff I use for work doesn't play well with Linux and I don't enjoy fixing things that updates break.

I'm not talking about cutting edge stuff really, just that some of the tools I need for my job either don't work well or don't work at all in Linux. I've tried, and in the process got a couple...

It is my opinion that (desktop) Linux as a whole is still basically a hobbyist OS. It is a ton of fun to play with, but I can't rely on it to get my work done.

This. I've used the same HP printer for quite a while now and haven't had any problems with it at all.
My own experience in Arch with those two programs has been that wicd is far and away the better of the two. I don't think I've ever even managed to get network manager to work.

Been running 32-bit Pro for a while now. No slow down and no stability problems. I would have to assume at this point that you just don't know how to maintain a Windows install.
