When coping files to a USB key the system telling me I don't have enough space left BEFORE trying to copy the files. Works even if there are multiple file operations going on. Just great.

Ahh. I used the steam launch properties option for episode 2 rather than adding the -dxlevel 81 to the launcher command line. Works great.
I'm having the same problem. I've tried various dxlevel launch properties. How did you finally fix it?
