  1. [ubuntu] Re: Vivid .iso boot failure "Unable to create a required folder"

Good to be back craig10x. Found this latest build to be running smooth as glass. Using it as my daily driver.
  2. [ubuntu] Re: Vivid .iso boot failure "Unable to create a required folder"

Also worked fine here booting from USB stick.

Fifth Attempt With Ubuntu 14.04 Daily

Today (2 Feb) I made my fifth attempt with the 14.04 daily builds. Previously my ATI Radeon HD 8650G had problems (perhaps kernel related) and I had to use nomodeset to boot to the desktop. While...

Re: Unity Tweak Tool for Precise?

Precise uses the MyUnity configuration tool. unity-tweak-tool is for later versions.
  5. [ubuntu] Re: Final beta ready.

Interesting. Seems to run very well following one early crash where it froze up for a while. Is the clock/calendar not supposed to be on the panel by default anymore? It's not there, and in the...
  6. Re: 64-bit finally becoming the default for 13.10

I agree that it's about time. I'm sure it's been a good while since the last 32-bit only machine was made. I've never seen a poll, but I would imagine that the percentage of 32-bit only owners is...

[ubuntu] Re: Google Earth Installation Problem

No dependency problems. And yes, it showed up right away in the Dash search, upon which I moved it to the Launcher. Good luck.

[ubuntu] Re: Google Earth Installation Problem

@craig10x: The easiest way is just download the Google Earth 32bit version and install using gdebi. Worked great on my 13.10 64bit.

[xubuntu] Re: Mintmenu cannot launch applications

I don't think you can install it in 13.04. Mint discontinued the xfce plugin for mint menu starting with Mint 15 Xfce. They now use the Whisker Menu as the default menu. It is a little similar to...

    Dropbox in Ubuntu 13.10

Using daily build from July 30th. Dropbox does not seem to install properly from the repositories. Try to start it and it doesn't run. I then tried installing it from here: ...
  12. Re: Trouble with Daily Builds the past couple of days...

I would have to go along with the hardware theory, as I have had no trouble at all booting/installing the Saucy dailies. I'm running the build from 5/24 right now. Perhaps in the progression of the...
  13. Re: Saucy Release Schedule, Partial Upgrades and Common Questions

Interesting. And the last "daily" build is 5/21 and it's now 5/23.
  14. Re: Saucy Release Schedule, Partial Upgrades and Common Questions

Well, I dove in and installed the Ubuntu 5/21/13 daily build. I've applied updates yesterday and today. Everything smooth as silk so far. The only problem I've run into is that many of the apps I...
  15. [ubuntu] Re: The Ubuntu and or Mint main password torture.

Is the password prompt box a little different than the others? Just a shot in the dark, but maybe an update or something messed up your gksu configuration. Try typing Alt+F2 to get the command...

Re: Saucy Salamander Daily builds are up!

Installed the 32 bit daily (5/02/13) build. It appears the problem with ATI is fixed. It booted properly to the Try/Install screen, and from there to the live desktop. Installation went without a...

Re: Saucy Salamander Daily builds are up!

As the builds from that date were really the Raring final, I wonder if they still are, or if they are builds that are pre-set to use the Saucy repos?

EDIT: Oops! Never mind. It says right on...

Re: Saucy Salamander Daily builds are up!

I may have to give a look at one of the dailies then. The only problem I had with the 13.04 final was my temps ran higher than with earlier kernels.

Re: gksu on live cd But not installed

Thanks for the info. That was driving me crazy. One thing I've discovered is that this problem exists only in the 64 bit flavor. gksu works like it should out of the box in the 32 bit spin.

Might it be hardware related? Using unity-tweak-tool works for me in setting whatever level of transparency is desired.

Yep, 3 more days to go. Just reinstalled using the 4/22/13 daily to move back to 64 bit from 32 bit. Purrs like a kitten.

[ubuntu] Re: Chrome Browser dep issue

I know it's not "mission critical" since it involves the installation of a package from an outside source, but it would be a nice gesture if the devs could put that dependency back in the 13.04...
