The trick works for me also, even when I ping scs.msg.yahoo.com, it results unknown host error, weird :-(

I found this link: http://www.youmustbejoking.demon.co.uk/progs.sid.html, which has a 0.06 Nimbus .deb files (in gnome-look it's version 0.05). I tried it and worked flawlessly. Hope it helps :-)
