maybe not then :(
Hi folks,
I'm really enjoying the speed of Unity 7, and would like to be able to use it on the LTS edition.
Is such a thing possible or planned?
Thanks!
@ victorche: I think you may just have a bad install. 13.04 is very speedy on my four year old Atom powered netbook with 2gb of ram. It boots fast, loads programs fast, and is light on resource use...
With regard to naming the new 13.10 here's some food for thought:

Secure Shoebill anyone? :D
I had this as well.
I fixed it by installing Unity Tweak and setting Background Blur to 'off' (in the 'search' settings).
Hope this helps you too :)
It runs fine on my four year old MSI U100 'Wind' with an N270 Atom and intel graphics.
The netbook i'm testing it on is a four year old MSI U100 'Wind'* netbook, and apart from the software centre issue it is breezing along very nicely.

Seriously, look again. It's 64bit Ubuntu 12.04 stripped right down and with Unity (and the 12.04 Unity didn't have shopping features any way).
The 'about IQnix' page is referring to their previous...
What can i say?
Unity has really come along of late: The ram footprint is much smaller than i experienced in 12.04, the interface is quick-quick-quick, and it seems to be very solid now.

Thanks Cariboo907 :)
Thanks folks, i just wondered if this was normal for the beta2.
Fixed by updating it in synaptic.
How do i mark thread as solved?
*Bump*
No apps/programs are displayed in Lubuntu Software Centre on my install.
I have sudo apt-get updated already but no change, and everything is showing nicely in Synaptic.
Is this normal/known for...
Toutatis (6) seems pretty nice IMHO. I just installed it on my Toshiba laptop (a210) and it all works fine - straight out the box.
Very happy with it so far, that's with ATI graphics too.
Hmmm.
Mebbe i'll just install 1.6 and point the updater to 'old releases'.
Very nice. Good work folks!
I've never had any problems with pae kernels on either of my netbooks (msi u100 wind and Toshiba nb250) both of which are powered by Atom processors.
I don't remember because i wasn't online bach then, but was there a lot of user dissatisfaction when windows moved from 3.11 to 95? That was a pretty big change too.
Remember this?

12-04 or 12-10?
I updated my 12-04 last night and there were two instances when i was asked if i wanted to update or keep certain files. I opted to keep the originals as i'v read on here that it's...
Just boot the computer with your legal and licenced Windows XP cd. It will erase the disk before installing Windows, and will set up the windows boot loader.

+1 for Crunchbang. I've been using Waldorf on my old MSI Wind since November, and before that it was Statler.
I've tried MANY others on this little netbook, but i keep coming back to #!.

I used to have an ooold Dell Latitude cpi-a with almost identical specs.
Puppy really was the best solution for me.
Oh this was a year ago.
