Was this feature removed for some reason? Anyone?
Is there a way in to just have the screen(s) blank after 60 minutes in Kubuntu 16.04? Not go to sleep, just blank. One of my monitors won't wake up without a power cycle.
All my searches find...
So it was a bug:

Turns out you have to remove the package libsane-hpaio. The version that comes with 14.04 is broken and siezes control of LPT1 and won't let it go. I don't have an...
Hello! I just installed 14.04 (running Gnome Classic) and I can't get my old parallel printer to work. The parallel port does not show up with the command lpinfo -v, just my USB printer.
When I go...
I hate that. I have the same problem. When I fix it I'll post back.
Followed the appropriate instructions on this page.
What brand router? I know my Trendnet shows the router page when I try to access my webserver from inside, but it actually works when I am not here.
I thought I would report this so it would be able to be found by others with the problem (because it's so weird).
I have 2 laptops, one is an Acer 5100 (currently using a wired connection) and an...
I just ran into this on a new install and all the updates fixed it- FYI.
For anyone with the disappearing printers problem, this post fixed it for me:

Here's the whole thread:...
Ok, after the updates yesterday, now my cups isn't starting with the computer and I have to start it manually. Anyone have any luck with that?
I only know about the startup process in a vague way. I think the next step would be picking one of your problems (like CUPS) and check the logs after rebooting to see when it gets hung up. Looks...
Did you install from scratch, or do an upgrade? Sounds like there might be some permission/timing problems. Every time I have tried to upgrade, while it works, I always end up with some weird things...
I am running Virtualbox also, but it runs fine? Did you see this link on the page you linked to.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/upstart/+bug/500520? Although I wonder why I am not having...
One of the biggest things is keep notes. A lot of what you do is something you might only do once a year and you'll forget. I learned that the hard way also on my 2nd MythTV install!
In that file (or in shell scripts? I don't know the proper terminology..) it runs the command and doesn't wait for it. For instance, the reason I know about it is I have the following in mine:
to...
Maybe as a workaround put "service cups start &&" in your /etc/rc.local until it gets fixed?
Ok, how about just disabling the new tab on middle-click in Nautilus? Maybe disable tabs? I guess I can live with the rest.
I just upgraded to 10.04 (and a new machine) from 8.04 and I can't seem to find a way to have the middle button on my mouse act as a double click like I had it on my old machine. I tried putting the...
Reinstalling CUPS worked for me. I didn't have either printer hooked up for the install. Once I reinstalled CUPS they magically appeared.
I setup a VPN using this great tutorial: http://ubuntuforums.org/search.php?searchid=71121867 but you always have to put in the username and password when it connects. Is there any way to automate it...
Ok, I gotta say, actually working with the controls (Junk folder) instead of doing it the hard way (i,e, my way) is much better!
Yeah, I want to automate it. I never want to see the email from "Phil's Stock World" for example.
That folder idea is a good idea if I can't get anything else to work.
I guess the Junk mail folder...
Does any one know a way to make the filters in Thunderbird permanently delete filtered mail? I tried "Mark Read" then "Delete" (or "Move to Trash") then "Delete". But most of them do not get deleted...
I couldn't see where else to put this, but hoping for some help. I have a client that is running 8.04 LTS and his Thunderbird will not display his incoming messages decoded unless he rebuilds the...
I'd like to chime in here. I found this great program that automates setting up Wine and installing some programs:

I even have Safari, and Internet Explorer 7 running...
