Evolution hangs and calendar data gets irreversibly corrupted when attempting to modify recursive event. Discussed in this thread.
Workaround: do not modify, just delete and make a new one.

Solved it.
I had finnish language set in System > Administration > Language support (actually didn't have all the components of it installed)
Changed it back to English (United States), logged...
Evolution cannot save calendar data: Error opening file... No such file or directory.
Jaunty system, fresh install. After Evolution first start .evolution folder is created in home folder...
Update:
Still have troubles with Synaptic. Some of the packages can be found only through the search dialogue, others only through quick search.
Jaunty clean install, same problem.
Solution of darkstaar makes the Search dialog in Synaptic work, quicksearch doesn't work.
After "sudo update-apt-xapian-index" quicksearch also works.

Thanks a lot! I think they were all made by Gedit, I like it and use it a lot. I've opened the Places > Desktop in Nautilus, Ctrl-H to show hidden files, and deleted them.
