Why is there so much difference in size between the 2005-06-14 release and the 2005-06-22 release? It's almost a difference of about 60 MB. Are there fewer appz in the latest version of the add-on...
That article was a real laugh, I don't agree with him and it seems he doesn't have a clue what he is doing or talking about.
:-?
I live in the Netherlands (or in Holland as some of you may know it.)
:)
I think you need to request this kind of stuff through the Ubuntu development team. And I guess that they wanna test it first, so don't get your hopes up to high. If they approve then I guess...
If you use a x86 system and not a AMD64 then GAIM 1.3 should show up in Synaptic, but if you don't use a x86 system then GAIM 1.3 is a no no and won't show up.
Well problem solved I would say, install Ubuntu 32-bit for x86 and all should be working perfectly, including GAIM!
I'm also using Ubuntu 32-bit on a 64-bit laptop and I see no reason to install...
I manually browsed the backports repository with firefox and it seems that GAIM 1.3 isn't available for AMD64 and it's only available for x86 systems.
That's one problem about 64-bit systems,...
Well I checked the Ubuntu Guide and I don't see any duplicate entries there, are you sure you have copy/paste it right?
Use the sources.list I posted in my previous post, they work for sure!
...
Btw did you notice that you have duplicate entries in your sources.list, remove them first. Better yet use the below sources.list and then following these instructions:
Do the following in this...
Could it be that something is conflicting in your sources.list regarding pinning different sources?
What happens when you remove all of your sources except for the backports?
So make sure the...
I read the whole thread and the people here have given very usefull advice and if all works well on your system then you should have no problems. But if all advice given here is not working for you...
Well if your sources.list is correct and you have restarted Synaptic and then pushed the reload button in Synaptic and it still doesn't work, then do it the Windows way....... RE-INSTALL Ubuntu. If...
You scored as Idealist.
Idealism centers around the belief that we are moving towards something greater. An odd mix of evolutionist and spiritualist, you see the divine within ourselves,...
Cool thx for explaining. It's always nice to know how things work at a deeper level.
So the reason why one Linux distro is different from another is the way packages are set up by the...
Is the cd going to be discontinued or not? I'm a bit puzzeld now.
First there's this release:
http://frankandjacq.com/ubuntuguide/add-on-cd/ubuntu-5.04-add-on-cd-e-2005-05-29.tgz
and then...
Hmm, so for example if I plug-in an usb flashdrive and it is automatically recognized and automatically mounted, then that's the packages at work?
So in short, Linux without the packages is...
What exactly makes Linux do the things it does? Is Linux nothing more then a kernel upon which different packages are set up?
If enough packages are lifted to a higher version, while the kernel...
Well, in several ways:
- You can go to the official website of that specific package or program and look up the license information.
- During installation of some piece of software you can look...
It seems that certain software that's used in the add-on cd is not allowed to be distributed freely on cd. The maker of the add-on cd didn't know this at first, but this has come to his attention...
I know that Hoary is now the stable version of Ubuntu, but in Debian terms it's an unstable version, since Debian has really lengthy testing procedures.
But is Warty really more stable then Hoary?
Mozilla products (Firefox and Thunderbird, etc.) should not be a problem either:
http://www.mozilla.org/MPL/MPL-1.1-annotated.html
Here's some info about audacity at:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/about/license
So audacity should not be a problem either.
;-) You do not need to say more!
Can Warty be considered a Debian Stable release?
