How long exactly did you wait? My laptop has USB 1.0 and it can take quite a while to do anything from a flash drive, especially load a live OS. My advice would be to let it sit for a longer period...
Try going to System -> Administration -> Software Sources.
In the tab "Ubuntu Software", check the box labeled "(multiverse)".
That error pops up when more than one package manager is open. If you haven't logged out already, try closing any of the following: synaptic, aptitude or Ubuntu Software Center.
Has this been tried?
1. Open a terminal window (Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal)
2. Type "sudo aptitude install flashplugin-nonfree"
3. Press enter
4. Enter your password (it won't echo...
Try typing
startx

While I can't help with the kernels and the blank screen, the only thing that needs to be done to install Skype is to download the .deb of appropriate architecture from this site and install it.
With 64 bit Firefox I seem to be running fine. I don't think I've updated in a while though, maybe try to downgrade your FF install? I believe this can be done in Synaptic.
My suggestion, as has been stated before, is a virtual machine. With the "seamless" mode in VirtualBox and a decent computer, you can have the Ubuntu menus at the top and the Windows menus at the...
How big IS the file you're trying to play?
Does the file play in something else, say Rhythmbox?
Graphically, you should be able to find like so.
1. Enable hidden files in your home directory.
2. Open the folder '.mozilla'.
3. Open the folder 'firefox'.
4. Open the folder ending in...
Try looking under ~/.mozilla/firefox, if you're looking for files relating to the theme.
Also try
killall firefox
I had a problem where firefox refused to start because it was already running, but for some reason wouldn't give me the "already running" message.
Hadn't thought of that. Can you have a hostname with a space though? Haha when I saw "My Realm" I immediately thought someone hacked it and made it their 'realm'.
What DE does Jolicloud use?
I believe that it is.
Confirmation. Any idea why it says "My Realm"?
Moody Martian?
Masterful Masseuse?
Hey guys,
Any idea on what's wrong with www.kde-look.org today? It was down completely at around 5PM, and now it asks for username and password with the prompt "My Realm". Hackers? Maintenance?...
This did it! Thank you guys so much.
Now to learn lua...

Thanks. I put everything where it was supposed to be according to your rc. .conkyrc in ~ and rings.lua in ~/Conky/Scripts/. Same error. This time, however, I got this beforehand:

It wasn't installed the first few times I posted, but I installed lua5.1 (I think?) via aptitude and still have the same problem.
At the very least, when I run 'lua' I get a prompt very similar to...
Thanks. I've tried her 'pie chart' conky as well, with the same result, but I'll keep trying things out.
I am using 1.7.2, pulled from norsetto's ppa here.
The lua script I am using is an example script I found on Google. All I did was change the directory that the lua file resides, but here it is:...
