Banned, just because.
First time I have peeped in a while.
Never heard of Ubuntu. Really wow, oh well, I think quite a few people still use Ubuntu. I could be wrong, and this all could be a dream.
I use adblock +, but none of the others mentioned. I just hate seeing ads, I have no fears of anything else, haven't had any problems with Linux since I started using it in 2007. No viruses, no...
I would recommend Lubuntu, or perhaps Crunchbang. Your system is decent, except for the memory is a bit low. With a little more memory, you could run normal Ubuntu without trouble.
You could try XChat, Peekko.
With the couldn't find disk, I would say that the hard drive is getting ready to fail. Under your administration tools, you should have a disk utility, there is smart controls in there for checking...
Also using Microsoft Security Essentials, and it is very decent, being from Microsoft and all.
I have played WOW in WINE. It worked pretty decent, I haven't played the others you mentioned check out: http://appdb.winehq.org/, there are a lot of programs listed there. Also remember that Linux...
Always back up, and I say wait till it is released. It is very stable at this point, but don't want broken stuff to appear. Give it a few more days, then upgrade. But Back Up First!! Also if you...
Yes anytime Windows XP is installed it has to be activated. Unless by some chance you have the school edition, it does not activate. So if it is installed somewhere else, it will most likely not...

wheyprotein is awesome for having green coffee beans.
Go to System>Administration>Software Sources, and un-check use CD-Rom. Then let it update again.
Really old server, I think it has 512MB of ram, a 733MHz processor, and 2 hard drives totaling 140GB. I store my music, and other important files on it. It runs Samba, Apache, NFS, SQL, and Python.
That is the tar.gz you were looking for the .deb version.
Spyware and Viruses are a thing of Windows. Linux doesn't have any spyware at this moment, and there are a few viruses, but I wouldn't worry to much about it. I'd Recommend reading through this:...
USB keyboards usually don't work with bios, or before you are into an operating system. Some BIOS's have an enable legacy USB feature which you will have to get into using a PS/2 Keyboard.
When you are logging in, you can select which DE to load, under sessions. This will be the default desktop until you change it.
Ubuntu, and often switch, more than the weather I would have to say.
You can actually use Pidgin for video/audio calls now, but not sure how it works. My webcam also only worked in cheese, not sure what the deal is with that.
Well if Ubuntu does go away, then it will just be the circle of friends.
You could try a different program, iso burn, or http://download.cnet.com/Active-ISO-Burner/3000-2646_4-10602452.html. The second is free, not sure about the first. Also if you burn it faster than...
