[ubuntu] Re: install hardy on macbook without cd

[ubuntu] Re: install hardy on macbook without cd

I've been looking around for an alternative way to install Linux on my MacBook as well.

It seems the Mac won't do a PXE or Bootp based boot, only Apple's "Apple Software Restore" (asr).
    You...

Re: TIP: Improve bootup speed by reprofiling bootup

My boot time actually increased after doing this...
I've got a pretty old system, just keep dist-upgrading at every release and I'm running Feisty now. The number of files now read is way more then...

Re: World of Warcraft with Wine

I had this problem too when installing. The "copy everything to 1 directory" thingie didn't work for me either.

Re: World of Warcraft with Wine

I was wondering if anyone here can play music through xmms/rhythmbox/whatever when playing WoW. I use Cedega, and well, i can't :(. WoW seems to need complete access to /dev/dsp, this means no esound...

    Re: Cedega 5.1 on Dapper

Anything else than the -14 kernel (-k7 to be exact) doesn't work for me. Today however i somehow broke my sound. Only thing i was toying with is XGL that shouldn't be responsible, i think...

Re: HOWTO: Hide unix file structure

The next day i found out a "killall nautilus" did the trick. Maybe you could add it to your post though it seems no-one else has had this problem?

Re: HOWTO: Hide unix file structure

Sounds good. Unfortunatly... it doesn't work for me.
I did a "ls > .hidden" as root in /.
View hidden files is off in nautilus and everyone has reading rights on the .hidden file. What else can it...

Re: HOWTO: Totem embeded with mozplugger (At Last!)

The script worked great for me in Hoary. However a new era of Linux has come, and it's name is Breezy Badger as you'd might have noticed :)
The Breezy installer appearantly overwrote my old config....

Re: HOWTO: Totem embeded with mozplugger (At Last!)

    Hi,
