To clone a Windows partition and make it bootable without the bluescreen is a bit tricky.
Here is a step by step instruction.
If you are on the live CD, you can use the dd method to copy the entire partition/disk byte for byte onto the external HD. It may take a few hours depending on your computer but is very accurate....
Not sure about Natty, but this is what I do to make floppy work in Lucid.
To summarize, reading (and writing) a floppy disk in Lucid Lynx (10.04) requires three steps:
1. Allow yourself to...
I have done that already, thanks. It still puzzles me. Is there any way to get back the free space of the /tmp short of a re-installation of the system?
I have / on a 20 GB partition and /home on the rest of the disk.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
Now I got back 800MB by removing the old kernels and the files in the archives. I will mark this as solved.

How do I remove them?
Thanks for all the suggestions above.
Now I have a problem.
I went into /var/cache/apt/archives using gksu nautilus and found about 500MB of .deb files there so I move them into Trash, but when...
use the TAB key
I installed 10.04 onto my eeepc 901 with / in the 4G SSD and /home in the 16G SSD. Now after some essentials such as languages and ubuntu-restricted-extras the 4G disk is left with less than 50MB. ...
I think what you can do is to set the router to have automatic DHCP to start at, say 192.168.0.105 and then give all the home computers a manual ip address for a number below this (between 100 and...
