while im at it, regarding the alpha tar, i was right in thinking that to install it i would do the following:

1. extract to desktop

basically, when I've tried to build audacious alpha from .tar and then reinstalled the older version (most likely over the top of the alpha version), it seems to have messed up something. im guessing...

all i had to do to override the ATI catalyst colours was to load up dispcalGUI and it reread my profiled .icc

and as i have discalGUi profil to run at start up I can now run the ATI...

this is my big problem. ive just installed the ati drivers and it has messed up my colours again. i calibrate my monitor as im a photographer and so need to use my profiled icc.
