Thanks for all the info Givingitago.
Looks like we've found the root cause of the problem. I don't dual boot so I was unable to test with Windows 7 without replacing the upgraded SSD that I have...
Axe Menu isn't compatible with Gnome 3.6 so you won't be able to use it. Another alternative is Cardapio but that currentlyisn't compatible either.
Hopefully the latter will be updated soon.
Thanks Giveingitago,
Let me know how you get on with HP support. I don't really want to send my laptop off again but I will if I have too.

Ah yeah, that makes sense actually. So I could have two FAT32 partitions, one of say 4GB and the other 60GB. I then have 4GB (or so) for apps so I could install dropbox on the persistence drive then...
Thanks for the quick reply. I'd be happy to go for persistence but I've only ever seen it go as big as 4GB. Is it possible to make a persistent drive for the whole 64GB?
Hey guys,
I have a work laptop that I use at home occasionally but it runs Windows 7. What I would like to do is buy a 64GB USB pen and install Ubuntu 12.04 on to that so I can boot my work laptop...
As I said, you should try changing the subnet on one of the NIC's. If you must keep the IP of the camera then change the subnet of the other NIC.
If you don't have a router then how is your...
Since it won't connect via multiple machines, phone and multiple places (and multiple OS's) then it clearly isn't an Ubuntu issue. I'd head over to the support forums of the camera manufacturers.

I can't with it being a 'Sleekbook' it's a lithium battery that's inside the chassis.
I'll get on to HP about it.
It's brand new - maybe 2 months.
You know, that hadn't crossed my mind - what an idiot! I'll see how it goes with 12.10 in case it is the Kernel pulling out some kind of charge from it. With the...
I think the problem is caused by the fact that both interfaces are on the same subnet.
Try changing the subnet on the camera NIC (eth0?). Your system may be getting confused and not routing the...
Hey guys,
This is more of a question that a problem I need fixing really. I have a HP Envy Sleekbook 6 laptop running 12.04 stock. When I turn it off the battery continues to discharge. I know...
Hi Vanzan,
This is widely documented in a number of places and a quick google search "how to save files on an ubuntu live USB" will reveal a lot of results I'm sure.
Anyway, the tool your...
Hi Andrew,
Once of the guest writers on my blog has literally just had an article published on power management including disks being spun down. He used a utiliy called TLC to achieve this. There...
All of DuckHook's comments and questions are completely valid and we definitely need this information to help. However, I would add that you really should run a backup of your machine before you make...
You need to make sure that the VM has a network adapter and it is enabled. Go into the VM settings and select network from the left hand pane.
When the network settings are displayed make sure...
The only hardware ive come across that categorically wont work with Ubuntu (or any linix distro) is anything with a SiS chip (Silicone Integrated Systems). Apart from that ive never had a problem...
Basically its extremely difficult and would make things much simpler if you just use 2 nics on your host.
Ever heard of the KISS principle? It stands for Keep It Simple Stupid (im not calling you...
In short, it can't be done.
To clarify, you have 2 DHCP servers that provide leases for two different networks on two different subnets.
You then want these two virtual subnets to connect to a...
Of course not s.fox. I will only process one application at one time. The last thing I want to do is waste anyone's time.
I appreciate the info NothingSpecial. If I'm unsuccessful through the forum council then I will try through the board.
Thanks again.
Thanks Elfy, I totally agree. I am a strong believer in quality is more important than quantity.
I realise that my contributions to the forums aren't as substantial as others who have been members...
ha ha you figured me out hakermania!
As I said in my previous post, I think there are more ways to contribute to the community than having a tonne of 'beans' in the forums and filing bugs on...
Thanks Cortman - you too! :)
