bump?
Still having issues.
I try and connect to the remote server now, and it won't accept my password! So I create a user that has no password . . . and it still won't accept it.
OK, so I have freeSSHd running on my Windows machine, ssh installed on my laptop.
ssh 10.0.0.9 -l Admininstrator
Asks for my password, and I enter it, then nothing. No prompt, no blinking...
Yeah, I've used Putty to control our Webserver in the past, but have never tried to do it in reverse!
So, SSH commands should work on Windows then too?
Well, sure. But it's so much faster to do things straight from the CLI (or build a script to do it for me) than remote into a server and do it from there.
I did not know the whatis command, that's kinda cool. I've been using the man command, but it still doesn't give me the syntax to use in this instance. I can do whatever I want on my local machine...
I've just started to get my feet wet in Linux, and so far I really like how I can program things to do nearly anything I want.
Only issue is that all the servers here at work are Windows. I would...
Hi everyone!
I'm new to Ubuntu (and Linux in general) but have been loving it so far! I have a Lenovo X61 Tablet with Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit on it.
So far, I've been able to configure the screen...
This is awesome, and seems to be working great for me!
I only have two issues;
1) In the Gnome GUI, it's not always prompting me for a fingerprint. This wouldn't be an issue, except it's no...
Could it be the difference between 32 to 64 bit? If so, that'd suck, since 32bit can't see all 4GB of my RAM.
OK, here's where I get frustrated:
I have a Dell Mini9 running 9.04-32bit and a Netbook Remix on top of it. It can connect to our Cisco VPN just fine. I'm not sure how, since when I first...
OK, this might be a bug, it might be my own model being wonky, so I'll try and be as detailed as I can.
Lenovo X61 Tablet (7764-CTO)
Jaunty 9.04 amd64
Used Tom's deb from Method #3

I'm having issues connecting to my VPN at work. I'm using the 64bit Jaunty on my laptop. I've installed the VPNC and KVPNC, and every time I connect I get "failed to connect to VPN because there...
No, the key binding was working (hitting the key DID rotate the screen). It just seems that part of the actual script wasn't working. Oh well, for whatever reason it works now. I'm not going to...
Well, hell if I know what just happened! I restarted a few more times, and suddenly my button mapping was gone. Went back into compiz config, and the button mappings weren't enabled anymore. ...
I'm fairly certain I am, how do I tell? Yes, I have Intel graphics, though that command you gave me didn't do anything.
I guess I shouldn't say I'm losing calibration; rather, the touchscreen...
OK, I used Tom's deb package, wrote the script into ~/Desktop/.rotate.sh, made that executable, assigned the "Rotate Screen" key the command, and it works! :)
Only I lose calibration when it...
YAY!!!! The touchscreen is finished! Thank you sooo much!
Now, my todo list:
Fingerprint Reader
Screen Rotation
WWAN Card (need to buy and install one first)
Learn to program!
I work on laptops all the time, and Favux is right; use the right tools. Also, don't let one stubborn screw ruin everything. If you try and force it, you risk stripping out the screw head, and then...
GAH!! I thought I did, I must have scrolled down and missed that line! I'll do it first thing in the morning and report back. :-S
Sorry, which file am I looking for? I thought I was looking for the xinitrc in my home folder?
Also, what is supposed to be in my startup apps?
Nope, it's executable. Did that (and did it again just to make sure), double checked the line was still rem'd out, and logged out and back in. It immediately dumped my calibrations.
Well, ok just about.
I know I read it somewhere, but why do I keep losing my calibration everytime I reboot?
EDIT: Fixed it. Thank you so much everyone! This is awesome, and I'm really...
Very cool!
I'm good to go!!
I followed your tutorial in post #1, and I didn't get any errors strangely enough. Also, I can't seem to find this script that everyone refers to. I know I'm probably looking in the wrong spot, but...
