    [ubuntu] Re: Emerald + 11.04 - options?

KWin is my default window manager right now. I type emerald --replace and there is no effect but I also get no errors.

So I open Emerald theme manager and choose a theme and nothing happens but...

    [ubuntu] Re: Emerald + 11.04 - options?

Thanks.. I found that though. I'm on KDE right now and like it so far but I still can't get Emerald to work. When I tried Gnome classic it wouldn't even load my desktop and I really didn't feel like...

    [ubuntu] Emerald + 11.04 - options?

It's been a while since I've run Ubuntu as my main desktop and it looks like a lot has changed. I hate Unity (seriously, way too much eye candy and not enough practicality) and so I switch to classic...

    Re: Netflix streaming on Linux?!

One thing I would have to add to this is that cracking copyright protection isn't legal. Regardless of the reason.

    Re: Netflix streaming on Linux!!

Firefox is supporting the Ogg codec, which is open source. The H.264 codec is closed source. So that's the problem right now. But all the browsers will support the <video> tag.

    Re: Netflix streaming on Linux!!

Well it looks like HTML5 has the potential to supplant at least Flash, possibly silverlight. YouTube, Vimeo, Google, and Apple are all starting to support the idea of using HTML5 for a standard for...

    Re: Ubuntu vs Crunchbang

There are two sides to this. At least... One side would argue that a distribution is nothing more than a CD download, ISO burn, install, and setup. Shouldn't be more than a 2 hour process. The other...

Re: The Ctrl + V game

I would have to go through and try to replicate it myself. I haven't used Linux in over six months :(

I had a perfect install (for me). I only wish I cloned the drive!

Re: how often do you use the terminal?

I don't think I could go a day without using the terminal. I'd like Linux to mature to the point where that isn't the case.

    Re: Ubuntu vs Crunchbang

Would it be safe to say this is another unnecessary distribution in the already-confusing sea of distros?

Not that it doesn't look intriguing, but it seems it would be easy to turn any Ubuntu...

[ubuntu] Re: can't install live cd!

I'm just making an assumption here but this may be a sign that you have unfortunately incompatible hardware, or some combination of hardware that is incompatible. I'm sure you will be able to get it...

Yes, I believe he does ;)

Actually, he sort of comes off as suggesting Africa is just a giant continent of savages living in mud-huts.

Well we know it's in the /home directory, so I would probably start there. You could try process of elimination by copying one directory at a time. I know it's a pain but unless you get any more...

    Re: Finallyfast.com made me LOL...

Registry cleaners should be avoided all together like the plague IMO. I tried one once and it deleted a key it shouldn't have. Didn't know enough about computers then to fix it :(
