Re: Is Ubuntu the "gateway distro"?

Absolute rubbish. I'm a true geek and I appreciate the ability to zoom the desktop, change transparency of windows, scale the windows, etc, all using Compiz.

    Re: Debian/Ubuntu Doomsday Packages

    Umm... ehh...

It won't run, because you're trying to compile the engine on 64-bit distros. Put simply; the code is not designed to work on anything but 32-bit. At least... the source code...

Well as they say, the future lies with the younger generation. :)

Stop believing that merit alone is enough!

Why do you think Microsoft is number one with operating systems? Because they're any good? Of course not. It's because Microsoft has the money and the...

I think we've mentioned several times that the Synaptics version is OLD, and hence useless. If neither the crx or crx.sdl files seem to work, run them (preferably crx.sdl as it tends to work better)...

Re: Installing Steam/CSS with a disk

Don't bother installing from the CDs, you don't have to. Just download the Steam client manually, install it, type in your account and start downloading the content from scratch through it.

    If you...

    Re: Linux Community Headaches

The complaint about the deliberate munging of the word Microsoft gets on my goat too. I'd complain about it being childish, but others would just say right back that it's just "humor".

Re: Installing Urban Terror 4.0 without Quake 3
