Worked for me aswell, I removed pmount, gnomepilot and usbmount and everything works as normal again :P

Sorry to revive an old thread but unfortunately we are now again a Year further and still no native Linux version..... I no longer have any confidence in Photomatix bringing out a Linux version.

Same problem here, as far as I can tell fglrx has some problems with lucid
here's how I came to that conclusion

I deinstalled fglrx, purged it and it came up with an error that fglrx could not be...

At present it works (radeon 4850) but no compiz.... still no clue why.

Same problem here, and I'm stuck, I've got an ATI 4850 Radeon and sofar I've tried this;

- removed fglrx
- purged fglrx from the dpkg (can't remove it)

-system broke

-restarted with...

I've got the LPI-1, Ubuntu(LPI 199) and LPI-2, I highly recommend the big O'reilly book, LPI Linux Certification in a Nutshell, plus building a Linux system, nothing fancy, just build a system.

Everything works again, allways remember to TURN OFF compiz on 9.04 otherwise your display is very distorted in portrait mode :-)

I had the same problem, I switched to Xshm in Xine and Mplayer, this fixes the problem, however Mplayer can't play full screen after that.

But since Xine works.... fine by me.

Never mind, I allready fixed it. I went back to the xorg.conf.failsafe. Xorg now starts in vesa, problem solved :-)

Then I did an upgrade check, 8.10 came with xorg-ati and radeon drivers :-), ...
