Open your home folder in your file manager. Select the folder "VirtualBox VMs", and delete it.
I don't use Compiz or Ubuntu Mate but I suspect you may have to install compizconfig-settings-manager. It used to come with a warning as well, IIRC.

If you have another Linux machine, try installing the mkusb ppa and then use mkusb to make the iso.

Thanks! I got something using sudo apt-get install blackbird-gtk-theme. And its gtk3 theme is still the old-fashioned one without the compiled stuff. I don't know if it's by the Xubuntu team.

What did you do here? Did you follow the procedure described in Create a bootable USB stick on Windows?

I think you have to download the full 1.6 GB iso. The option for a minimal install is then available as in post #6.
