It is not possible to change the resolution of GRUB, since it is used so early in the boot process it doesn't have any advanced graphics. It has to compatible to most hardware.
They should be, I don`t think much has changed in the way GRUB does things. However I cannot promise anything since it was a long time I used it.
GRUB is the boot loader you get when you install...
Looks like you're standing in your home folder at the moment (/home/tahsin). Your desktop is located in /home/tahsin/Desktop
To go there, type
cd /home/tahsin/Desktop
Then your prompt will look...
Are you using any scripting language? Is your university using any scripting language? Do they have their header in a separate file? In that case you could just include it.
It is possible to...
Hiya!
Thought I would spend some of my spare time to check some nice how-to's to spice up my system or solve problems. This is one of my favorite sections of the Ubuntu forum. The problem is that...
Managed to get it working by typing
python /usr/share/bibus/bibus.py
Strangely enough, this is (almost) exactly what is in the /usr/bin/bibus script... I'm confused...
I would like to see a solution to this too, please!
Managed to get 'import uno' and 'import pyuno' work through adding /usr/lib/openoffice2/program to LD_LIBRARY_PATH and PYTHONPATH. Although...
I'm having the same trouble with vim-gnome.
However fish wont allow me to alias vim-gnome (because of a dash in the name I guess?). How would I go about this?
Did you try with a used image that you know is working?
Please post your grubconf and the image you are using.
Is the text still there?
Great info! This I had no knowledge off, obviously. :-)
What do you do with imagemagick? As far as I know the manual way does not use imagemagick. It justs replaces the files, even the .xpm with a .png file.
This is what my previous icon looked like. Note the black border around yours, at the lower right.
That's the same I have, but I mean the program icon. Take a look at mine. Perhaps it's due to the resizing. The manual howto lets Firefox scale the icon I believe.
How about desktop icons?
Great script!
One thing, however: The icons differ from the ones specified in the manual howto? There's a black border around yours, which IMO doesn't look as good as the others. But its a minor...
The thing I liked in XFCE4 is when you dragged a window to the edge and it would move to the next workspace, however it is quite confusing when just moving your mouse and the workspace switches. I...
First: Great script! Thanks!
But: I've tried making iwlist, iwconfig acd dhclient3 runnable by non-root, but executing wicme in a prompt still asks far a password. When I try to run it in the...
How are your disks partitioned? What does your /boot/grub/menu.lst and /etc/fstab look like?
Fish is fresh! I like user friendly! :-)
Sorry about that!
This is now added to the guide. Thanks a lot for pointing that out! I've never done a clean Ubuntu install on a disk, I always partitioned it myself as I have multiboot....
Thanks for pointing this out! Added it to the guide.
Excuse my stupidity but I can't find Gaim 1.2.1 with apt-get or Synaptic after adding and reloading the backports. Have I done something wrong?
EDIT: Fixed. Ah, staging was not the way to go!
Introduction
This guide will tell you how to get a nice background image while in Grub. The guide will first explain how to load an image into Grub and use it as a background and then, for those of...
