These instructions were from the Ubuntu site and I always copy/paste. I wondered why they didn't just do md5, but Bashing-om has answered my question. Problem is, the hash matches, and so far, trying...
Following the instructions on the site for verifying the download.

YOU da man.
Mine is doing the same thing, but it only started after I bypassed a KVM switch and directly hooked it up to the monitor. Very irritating to see 900x600 on every restart.
That fixed the issue. I appreciate it.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I just went to run Computer Janitor, and it started to load, then the tab disappeared. I restarted to see if that might be it. Then went to the Software Center to see if there was something else that...
Have you tried installing xsensors? I just was searching on lm-sensors to add temp and fans to gkrellm, and saw this in Ubuntu Software (9.10).
I only mention this because I didn't see what you have...
Thanks, ilil.
Tried xine too. Path is correct. At least I have several OSs and one of them works...

Worked great. Thank you.
There is an option under System>Preferences>Keyboard Shortcuts to launch a Terminal session. Just highlight that and choose an unused keyboard combination.
The key phrase is 'important stuff'. I had no problem running the upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10, but this machine doesn't have any critical data on it.
You can always use tar to make a full backup of...
I have always been an early adopter and never got burned. What puzzles me is, all my systems are home built with the cheapest components, and cobbled together over time. I have the most Frankenstein...
I have only played with this for about an hour, but I have to say, this is a very positive experience. Maybe it is because I am now running Firefox 3.5.3, but this thing is blazing.
Shutdown seems...
I could only suggest trying an older live CD. I don't work with laptops, but this machine is an Athlon 64 3200 on an old Winfast motherboard. No problems at all to speak of.
Have you tried using...
I used the upgrade option, and see that the file system is still ext3.
Maybe you meant upgrade the version by doing a full install. Regardless, you should have full backups of any critical data if...

Boot with the CD, and then go to System>About Ubuntu. You will see a link on the right for Version and Release Numbers.
Following the simple B&W logo on my system, was an absolutely beautiful screen with a 'bouncing' back and forth progress bar.
I can't wait to get home again and watch it. They out '7ed' 7.
Upgraded to 9.04 and audio is working fine. No idea why 8.04 did not recognize/install the hardware. Original post below:...
It did in previous versions, but I tried a USB wireless mouse, and voila!!! Scroll mousing active. Thanks.
<mmm, isn't it 9.04 Jaunty. Not Intrepid. lol.>
What about 9.04 Edgy??? Buggy as all get out!!!!
But maybe a clean install rather than an upgrade?
Always, always, always.
Although I ignore my own advice and have upgraded from time to time. This is non-critical data, however.
You can never...
