    You need to select a swap partition (should be done automatically) and a root partition. Home is optional.

    As long as you set a / (thats root) partiton youre good to go.

    Just make a 2d array (or matrix or whatever you wanna call it). Adding a value (it could be a boolean in this case) and seeing if a value is rpesent will both be O(1)

    Use the free command. The difference in the output of those commands is that one may be showing buffers while the other one is not.
