did it work in 12.02? i assume its usb.....if so, I think the problem we are having with usb modems is in the new modemmanager...Try uninstalling modemmanager and install the one from 12.02...That...
the problem might be the new modem manager......
if it worked in 12.04.5LTS you will need to downgrade the modem manager
...worked for me with usb modem...
