hmm... so you said you got problem with unity's launcher changing its color too right? might be unity misbehaved in your machine... try
unity --reset in your terminal... a reset in unity might do...

you can boot to live cd mode and then select 'something else' and then just select your swap partition, mark...
post #57 and the above post's partitions isn't different...except the swap area which was functional back in post #57 and unknown as in recent post....
