If you ever have the slightest whim that you may want to roll back to Windows 7 you may want to leave the recovery partition unless you have the original installer disc.

You must switch the SATA Mode (BIOS) to IDE from AHCI.
Hit F2 at boot screen -> Main -> SATA Mode -> IDE
This will allow Window XP to see your SATA.
Is the Windows XP install not reading your hard drive at all? There should have been an option to do a new install as well as format the hard drive if the drive was detected.
I got mine working surprisingly. I didn't want to roll back to 10.04 or 10.10. Out of the two things I did it might have been the latter that fixed it.
