Greetings everyone.
I'm in the process of (trying) to make a home server with Ubuntu Server 16.04.1. Installed fine, setup fine, mounted 3 out of 4 HDD's fine. The 4th one however is giving me a...
Tried the TOS (Tactical Orbital Strike) approach, AKA nuke the HDD e reinstall OS'(went with Windows 8 again if it makes any difference). Also downloaded a new ISO and remade the LiveUSB....

Downloaded the 12.10 iso from ubuntu.com after the announcement, and used UNiversal USB Installer to make a LiveUSB.
No Optimus support, the laptop in question is a Clevo W76TUN, also known as the Novatech X16 among others.
The GPU is a Nvidia G105M.
Purge and reinstall successfull, going to try again.
Here's the new link.
EDIT:
And STILL nothing. Same exact thing, just a blinking cursor.
Out of real life, and back to the good stuff!
So, here's the link of Boot-Repair, I'm off to check if it did the trick.
EDIT:
And still the same. Remembered trying to press L-Shift, which...
I'm having a similar issue. sudo os-prober detects both Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.10 (64 and 32bits respectively), but on boot in shows a blinking cursor in the top right and stays there.

Well, went in guns blazing and installed everything. Good part is it works, bad part is it bugged both rotating the screen and the touchpad.
However, that is beyond the point of this post. Thanks...

I'm currently using an Acer Aspire One ZG5 with a Xubuntu 12.04 install, and am having some problems with xrandr. I'm using it to set up a 1280x720 (scaled) resolution from the native...
Greetings, I have a similar issue.
I'm using a 4GB pen drive, which works "fine" (except dieing on occasion after a couple of boots) with Ubuntu and Xubuntu. However, Lubuntu decided it wanted...
Thanks for the tip Rodney9, but I'd rather not format it. I've reached the sweet spot with the install and would just like to get a little more speed out of the system.
Greetings
I have an Acer Aspire One ZG5 netbook with Ubuntu 11.10 installed. In a quest for a bit more speed out of the system, I installed LXDE from the Software Center.
Problem starts when I...
Greetings everyone.
A small question, is it possible to edit Tomboy's dropdown menu to only list the unfiled notes?
I use a netbook as a quick "take it and fix PC's" machine and keep a couple...
Greetings,
Up to yesterday, my netbook was working fine with Ubuntu 10.04 NBE. However, after turning it on today I see that the Networking has been turned off (nothing a right click didn't fix)....
Greetings.
After a good deal of searching, I learned how to have different wallpapers for each desktop. However, I searched high and low for a way for compiz NOT to darken the wallpapers while...
Little bump as a last hope?
I warn you all in advance, this is probably the biggest mess anyone ever did in Ubuntu for this specific situation.
After 3 days of trying (to no avail) to get my new Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum...
Just a little bump, as a last try...
Tried it, does the exact same as trying to open amarok.
Can't really find a way to explain this, so an image is in order:

I can only open that small window for Amarok, the main full-screen one...
Well just tried it...TV "worked" (as in it was showing the picture, but in B&W and it kept "jumping", like when you have a barely tuned channel) and my actual screen just plain stopped working.
