[SOLVED] Re: Sync Google Tasks with Thunderbird

The Google Tasks Sync addon (see this link) is too new to be on the Mozilla site yet, but I installed it manually into TB and it works fine.
  2. [SOLVED] Re: E: Internal Error, No file name for libapt-pkg4.12

Thanks Manvvip this thread helped me out of a hole.
  3. Re: No module named tkMessageBox (Python 3.1.1+) IDLE

NO! The title says he is using Python 3, _NOT_ Python 2. Your setup must be for 2. The change required is to refer to messagebox, rather than tkMessageBox, because that has been renamed, too.

[ubuntu] Re: openssh-server fails to startup

After a couple of IRC chats with Robie Basak at Canonical and a couple of experiments I have found a solution.

It turns out the liblsp.so library belongs to my vpn software package. I had been...

[ubuntu] Re: openssh-server fails to startup

Conzar, that looks a lot like the kind of thing I am seeing. If you can, see if you can add a crash report to the Launchpad bug, I think the moderator was not happy about my original post there...

[ubuntu] Re: openssh-server fails to startup

I guess I kind of assumed that, being a bit of a newbie on the forums, someone else would already have been there, done that. It is hard to imagine someone not noticing sshd not working.

    Filed a...

[ubuntu] Re: openssh-server fails to startup

I have just completed a total reinstall of 12.04 on one of my laptops, and the problem with sshd remains. The daemon fails to start.

I don't know what has happened, but it used to work fine, and...
  8. [ubuntu] Re: dpkg : status database area is locked by another process while trying to install

Removing the lock file unlocks dpkg, but I still can't do anything, because when I run the configure command it re-starts the failed install at the point it left off, downloading a file at about 2...

[ubuntu] Re: openssh-server fails to startup

Here is the tail of the dmesg output from the manual restart using the service command:

[ 5084.883354] init: ssh main process (5488) killed by ABRT signal

[ubuntu] Re: openssh-server fails to startup

Is there a way I could use something like md5sum to check the integrity of the libraries before I start randomly reinstalling them? Like, is there a published list somewhere of what the checksums...

[ubuntu] Re: openssh-server fails to startup

Hi Charles, the above file made no difference at all. Checking in a file comparison tool it was identical to the existing one except for some white-space characters in a comment line.
    Looking at the...

[ubuntu] Re: openssh-server fails to startup

Hi Charles, the example here is from a purged and re-installed openssh-server. BTW thx for adding the code tags, I am still finding my way round the editor :/

[ubuntu] Re: openssh-server fails to startup

The /var/log/auth.log file contains no useful information. It records sshd listening on port 22, but there is nothing to indicate the daemon has aborted.

[ubuntu] Re: openssh-server fails to startup

Thanks for this, Lars. I found an interesting message when ssh stayed in the foreground. Not sure what it means, but here is the output:

    bob@bobInspiron:~$ sudo /usr/sbin/sshd -D
    *** glibc...

    [ubuntu] openssh-server fails to startup

I have 2 Ubuntu (64-bit) laptops and an Ubuntu lan server (32-bit) all running openssh-server. All 3 machines are running 12.04 LTS and are regularly kept up to date.
Until a couple of weeks ago...
  17. [ubuntu] Re: 11.10 to 12.04: Post-upgrade boot failure

Hi, I have upgraded 3 laptops to Ubuntu 12.04. The first was a clean install on an old machine, and it went so well I decided to upgrade my #2 workhorse. That, too, went fine, so this morning I had a...
