I with Bodhi on this one. You're spending a lot of time trying to get a converted windows disk working and when you do you'll continue to have problems with it.
I did manage to get a windows...
Are all monitors connected to just one box? "full power" is only achieved by dedicated hardware. In that case you use the "synergy" software to allow one keyboard / mouse to control all the...
Do a search on "virtualbox bridged networking". There's bound to be a good howto that explains the concepts as well as the practice.
There are three ways of networking virtual machines:
host only
nat
bridged
In all cases the vm perceives a different ip to the host - two of them on a different subnet.
For a server, you...
Do you mean physically or legally?
Legally gets argued about a lot but does depend on the license that has been purchased. OEM licenses are specific to a particular machine - I take it to be...
You may need to re-activate Windows. If the "hardware" changes "too much" then Windows (and office) require you to reactivate.
The easiest solution is to have a dhcp server on your physical network - is there any reason not to do this?
Why do you think this would be difficult?
Windows works well virtualised under vmware - without hardware support - can't see why it wouldn't under Xen.
I can't reproduce this issue. All my windows vms continue to run fine.
What systems is it failing on?
My details:

Sounds like it hasn't generated the kernel specific files (i.e. you haven't got it fully installed.)
Try running it from a terminal - that will tell you what the error is:
vmware

Personally, I always rdp to my virtual machines and have had no difficulty with the latest kernel -13.
This may be a work around for some of you.
gnome-rdp has the nice feature of allowing you...
I suggest you try vmware server 1.07.
Here's a link to the howto:

If you want to try something different, have a look at the virtualisation...
Sounds like the intermittent problem I have on a Dell Vostro 1510 laptop running Jaunty.
Occasionally, though getting more frequent, when starting up the system gets to the login screen and is...
Is there a CD in the drive?
I don't get any size information except as a description of what is in the drive. I suspect if you change the disk to a dvd you'd get a different value.
You need to have that little rant at the Canon developers, not here.
On this forum you find, not IT guys or pros, but users who, for whatever reason, choose to volunteer their time to helping...
I think you need to access the disk as ide not scsi. I believe that is why you need to use mergeide in windows before converting the disk.
EDIT: Oops, sorry for repeating HDave's info - I didn't...
I now run virt-manager as root (added the icon to the toolbar and changed the command to gksu virt-manager).
Now I only get the localhost(System) tree.
Synergy is gdm session specific. When you log in you need to start it for the new gdm session created.
It's a long time since I set it up and but I have notes that suggest that I created the...
Correcting as requested: :)
You can run as many virtual cores as you want. They don't get exclusive access to any of the physical cores.
For example, I have six vms running on a quad core...
I'm still not sure I understand the question, it sounds like you are confusing cores in the host with cores in the vm. If I'm wrong then this answer will be no help:
The command is to do with the...
Sorry, what is the question?
Due to a combination of my vm XPs being less "cluttered" and Linux' far superior SMP abilities, I get better than native performance with my vms running Excel (2003) models.
I suspect...
When I am connected at work (ethernet) everything works nicely, all the shares are mounted in the appropriate place and it all happens nice and quickly.
It's when I'm not connected to the network...
//hera/CokeDrive /Music cifs defaults,credentials=/home/.smbpwdOlympus,umask=0000 0 0
I've also just realised that I have 10 shares in the list (6 from 1 server 4 from another) but I definitely...
