Unfortunately, ubuntu is quite sensitive to unfinished/cancelled updates - as I've experienced myself.
Could you perhaps go into the update manager and click 'settings'. Then go to tab 'updates',...
This sounds like very probably the main reason why you have been seeing so many package errors. Cancelling updates is.. well... simply dangerous, and almost 100% guaranteed to lead to a gazillion...
Natively, no Linux distribution will do stuff with .exe files. There are methods of using .exe files via wine, but this is most definitely not perfect; no one can guarantee you that the .exe file you...

I'm sorry, but this is an English language forum. If you would be so kind to translate your question from Portuguese to English, someone might be able to help you :-).
Hi People,

Could you type the following in a terminal:
java -version
and post the output of that here?
Do you only get the message or are you also actually unable to use the internet?
I've had that message myself before without it actually doing anything. Seems there are more people with that...
Notepad++ is based on the Scintilla library. I would suggest Geany, as this also uses this library; you can find it in the software center. Or perhaps Bluefish; i don't know whether this has all...
No. I already have that. However, this produces ´ and ¨ whenever I want to type ' and " in some software.
Dear people,
Since time immemorial I have been using US International (with dead keys) as keyboard layout. This is convenient for me, as I tend to write in multiple languages - some of which...
Sorry.. didn't notice the spaces in the folder name!
Here's what should work

Torrents are not quicker than regular downloads, unless the server in your regular download is the limiting factor. With torrents, you are left to the whoes of popularity. Torrents are distributed,...
Any arguments for that?
MS is primarily targeting win8 at the tablet market. If it fails in that market, you can safely assume this will drive people to iOS or Android.
Looks like that file is set to non-executable. What you can try to do is the following:
Open a terminal
Then do:
cd /home/chambers/.cxoffice/Microsoft Office...
Could you give us some more information? What version of Ubuntu are you using? And did you run the emulator from inside Eclipse (as Google recommends)?
Windows software will simply not work in Ubuntu. You can use Wine to run windows software on Ubuntu, but more often than not that doesn't work :P
I believe the Sun jdk is no longer supported for Ubuntu, because of license issues (in a nutshell: Oracle is being difficult). You will have to use the Openjdk these days.

The update manager indeed seems to be a lot slower than using the terminal in 12.04.
Well... it seems to me that this would only slow things down if one is located far from the US.
Linux can be seen as a "family" of operating systems, who all use some version of the Linux kernel. The kernel is the core of the operating system.
Ubuntu is just one of many operating systems...
I use Back In Time for my backups. It suffices my needs, but I do find it needlessly slow at times, though that might be caused by my hardware setup.
I find firefox to be too much clutter lately anyway. Chrome suits my needs a lot better, actually. :-)
second button on the left menu is "home folder". This opens nautilus.
Alternatively, you can open a terminal and just type
nautilus
Compiz is a windowing manager that Unity uses. It's supposed to be there ;-)
