  1. [ubuntu] Re: 8.10 Server on an Intel D945GCLF2 Issues & Observations

I have an Intel Pro/1000 GT and a Linksys SMCGS8 8 port 10/100/100 switch and my transfer rates are maxed at ~14meg even with Jumbo Frames support setup at each workstation.

    Strangely between the...
  2. [ubuntu] Re: 8.10 Server on an Intel D945GCLF2 Issues & Observations

Haven't checked back this thread for a while. I solved the onboard nic issue with the proper driver but actually ended up not using it anyways since I have an Intel Pro/1000 GT card.

    Updated to...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: 8.10 Server on an Intel D945GCLF2 Issues & Observations

Now more time & testing has passed so I'll move this along.

Upgraded the D945GCLF2 to bios 0106 from 0103 & still had major file transfer issues. FTP or Samba write speeds were well below that of...
  4. [xubuntu] Re: Starting to plan a home File Server, looking for advice on hardware.

    Thanks for the info!
I'm not using an addon SATA card just an Intel Pro/1000 nic and it seems to work great. I do get a kernel panic when the kernel tries to load off of the 8.10 64bit server cd but...
  5. [ubuntu] Re: 8.10 Server on an Intel D945GCLF2 Issues & Observations

After lots of testing it seems that the power supply had a faulty 5v rail that was causing the issues. Now all is good & I really appreciate what this board can do even more. .

    I did replace the...

[ubuntu] Re: File transfer poor performance issues

Thanks very much for the info.

If this is a known problem are there any indications that a solution is being worked on or available? As it stands now it is very frustrating.

[ubuntu] Re: File transfer poor performance issues

Just for reference I installed SME server 8.0b3 and my Samba transfer speed are as good or better than with windows at 50-68Meg/s in each direction. This means it's got to be a config issue in 8.10...

  11. [ubuntu] Re: 8.10 Server on an Intel D945GCLF2 Issues & Observations

With further testing it seems that any ide cdrom I use causes the system to go into what looks like sleep mode eventually from which I cannot wake the syetem up. The power light(green) turns off and...
  12. [ubuntu] 8.10 Server on an Intel D945GCLF2 Issues & Observations

Got my spanking new D945GCLF2 (Dual core Intel Atom 330) motherboard and wasted no time getting 8.10 up & running but I ran into some roadblocks. Here is the system specs.
