    intel's graphics hardware is not really very much more then a software driver

    might be better to use a desktop with radeon which evidently supports open source better than nvidia

    in this age, monster capacity disks are very low in cost

    there are adapters for antique EIDE systems

    I suggest getting a couple of 2 TB disks, unless you have UEFI when disk size does not matter
