If you can hit Ctrl Alt F1 and log in run:
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start

It makes it difficult for people to help you when you do not understand how to use a terminal, or what commands represent.

It appears that you are not quite comfortable with using the terminal yet.
Ive used sendmail and a little scripting to great effect, but sendemail has a few extra features that you should definitely be trying to use to avoid your particular issues.
