I might have the same problem on a LG Gram 15", also with a i7-1260p.
All sound chip detection works as expected, but no sound from the speakers no matter what I do in the mixer.
However,...
find(1) is a good utility and an example of typical Unix programming.
It has been a long time since I used GIMP with a raw plugin, but yes it sounds about right. There is no "reading" the raw file, you need to have a specialized software doing an initial conversion...
I have a System76 Gazelle Professional that had a first-class kinetic incident.
I have the power supply and the battery that I would like to pass on to somebody who might use it. The laptop...
The raw file really doesn't have a ready-to-edit picture. At the very least you need to do one raw->jpeg conversion using one profile (which might or might not be automatically adjusted based on the...

Also, please don't say...
Python and GTK+ should be the most straightforward way to put a solid GUI on something. You can have GUI elements in shellscripts but that can get messy very quickly.
You seem to be too focused on languages. OSes and APIs are important, too. 3 language are already too many for you, although it is probably a good thing that you realized Java isn't it early enough...
I had a related issue, my Gazelle "Pro" would suddenly turn itself off, with or without load. I RMAed it and after what was probably a mainboard swap (among other things) didn't show the issue,...
