My desktop is just over 4 years old (Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz, 8GB DDR2 800MHz RAM, 64GB SSD, 2TB + 1TB + 320GB HDD). My laptop is a bit newer (less than a month old). Specs of that is in my sig.

I think Kate will do what you need. I have attached a screenshot showing an example in it. Is this kind of what you wanted or am I thinking of the wrong thing?
