    [ubuntu] Re: Un-installing Ubuntu

To totally wipe a hard-drive use dban. It is open source, and will completely remove all data, which deleting files won't. I wouldn't use Gparted for this, but I suppose that would be OK too.

Perhaps your iso is corrupted? Try verifying the md5 sum.

    [lubuntu] Re: gnome 3.5 menu

Try using alacarte. You can install it like this:

    sudo apt-get install alacarte

With that app you should be able to modify the menu, and add a launcher for ubuntu-tweak.

[SOLVED] Re: video problem and download instructions

Sounds like your software is messed up. I would try to install another browser through the software center so you can get by, revert any changes you made to flash in synaptic, and then update.

[SOLVED] Re: How to share a USB drive

What if you created a folder on the drive and changed it's permissions? You might have to change ownership of the folder first by using the chown command.
  8. [ubuntu] Re: "Package dependencies cannot be resolved." when trying to install OpenJDK 6 Runti

Oh, sorry. You need to be root (that's what the ~# means). So just type sudo before each of the commands, or enter bash as root and then run the commands:

    ~$ sudo bash
    ~# apt-get update
    ~#...
  9. [ubuntu] Re: "Package dependencies cannot be resolved." when trying to install OpenJDK 6 Runti

    Try this:

    ~# apt-get update
    ~# apt-get libjpeg8 libpulse0 openjdk-6-jre-headless

If you don't get any errors try installing openjdk-6-jre again from the terminal. That way you can post all...

[SOLVED] Re: video problem and download instructions

What? That is really odd. I've used that method and it worked fine. Well, I guess re-installing FF would be the next step.

[ubuntu] Re: How To Install Adnroid SDK in Ubuntu Linux?

    Don't worry, it's not that complicated ;)

First, decompress that tgz by right clicking on it and selecting 'Extract Here'. That is all that file really is; just another type of 'zip'. I think it...

[ubuntu] Re: Menu bars & wifi gone after update

It shouldn't as long as you select "upgrade to 11.10" when you are installing from the CD. You might want to back up things in case it doesn't work.

For the menu bar, I'm assuming you mean that...
