I command line install everything, even when I was on GNOME. Synaptic is just way too slow. KPackageKit is fast, but on some occasions it fails.

I chose mac because your choice is limited. Linux OS' (with KDE) are sexy... however Ubuntu is probably one of the ugliest and unoriginal in that list.

I tried the single window feature. It still has many problems... in fact, its undoable, windows suddenly dissapear, etc, many bugs.

I have to add though kde 4.4 is awesome, its just those problems that I experienced need to get fixed. I didn't report any bugs, because it always says I don't have useful info to report a bug... so...

Why did you clean install? I just went into terminal, removed kde completely, disabled backports and reinstalled kubuntu desktop.

Is there a way to get to kde 4.3.5 now? lol... enabling backports...

I installed it just right now because you mentioned it. I agree its very fast... about 20x faster than 3.1, no joke. they did good.

I just upgraded to KDE 4.4 Final, its so polished... everything is so great. :D

Thx I figured what was wrong. For some reason enabling backports in Kpackagekit does not uncomment it in the file :/

I've enabled backports, but I see no updates... im currently in kde 4.3.4, i've also manually used sudo aptitude dist-upgrade and full-dist-upgrade, but nothing.

They will be using 2.6.32, with backport for higher.

ATI supports only three distros doesn't it, Redhat, Ubuntu and SUSE. None of them has that kernel do they? So they will not add the support until and when one of them does.

Here is some more info. I have an ATI 4570, using Kubuntu 9.10 64bit.
