Suffered the same problem with the MySQL upgrade. My solution was to kill the mysqld process before installing the update.
Dont' bother with this. I installed those packages late at night and was tired.
It was just a matter of installing some other dev packages.
Your dev packages install fine now.

After some research it seems that the newest driver (1.0.3) from ipw2200.sourceforge.net dosen't have the needed patches to be merged into a kernel. This means that it will be probably packaged apart...
