    You could try using the vesa driver instead of the ati, via or nvidia driver. Then if it does boot in - it might be compiz, or a video driver issue.

    I'd also suggest that you update your graphics...

    What do you need to do with the data once collected? A spreadsheet will be your simplest and easiest solution.

    Did you mount the .iso file as an image with PowerISO? You might have to burn the .iso file to a CD then try and install from Windows.

    I fixed mine by removing gfxboot and gfxboot-grub.

    Apparently there is a problem with the grub-update file included with gfxboot!
